Who Wants to be a Millionaire

The Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Play It attraction can be found on Mickey Avenue in Soundstages 2 and 3. It is nestled between the Backlot Tour and the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. The soundstages are created to be exact replica of the set that is actually located in New York. But, instead of only 300 seats like the real set, the Disney-MGM version has 656 seats, 11 of which are wheelchair accessible. Shows are generally presented hourly.

Every guest in the theater has a keypad located in front of him or her. The “fastest finger competition” is utilized to determine who gets to be the hot-seat contestant. Children are eligible to be hot seat contestants. Contestants can then answer questions and earn up to 1 million points. Contestants are awarded real prizes depending on the number of points they accumulate at the end. Prizes can be buttons, pins, shirts, or hats. The grand prize is a three night Disney Cruise aboard the Wonder.

With the Disney-MGM version of the show, life lines are still an option, but they are slightly changed. Polling the audience and 50/50 are still the same, but “Phone a Friend” is “Phone a Complete Stranger.” When this option is chosen, a Cast Member outside the studio hands the phone to a park visitor who can help select the correct answer.

The audience guests participate along with the contestant in the hot seat. If the hot seat contestant loses, the audience member with the highest score moves into the hot seat to keep the 30 minute attraction rolling. The attraction is a very realistic version of the show. The first few questions tend to be Disney related, but not all. As with the real show, questions become increasingly more difficult. The same questions are not repeated from show to show.

Lines do form quickly for this attraction, but a FastPass is available. Visiting first thing in the morning also helps avoid lines. The show generally starts at around 10:30 am. Assistive listening devices are available for guests who are hard of hearing and it is wheelchair/ECV accessible, though guests requiring these devices will be seated in a special area in the theater.
