Magic Kingdom
Many people say that the spirit of Disney’s magic can be experienced by simply visiting the Magic Kingdom. This highly respected 107 acre theme park was opened October 1, 1971 and has undergone more than three decades of changing social climates, shifting cultures, and amazing technological advancements, many of which have left simpler theme parks both archaic and obsolete. Through all of these changes, however, the Magic Kingdom remains on top, receiving more visitors each year than any other Theme Park.
By holding steady to its fundamental vision of providing families with a safe and clean place to gather, the Magic Kingdom has maintained its special appeal and charm. This simplistic approach, and the enjoyable time families have with each other when visiting the Magic Kingdom, has made the Theme Park a must stop in any visit to Disney World. Even veteran Walt Disney World visitors are not complete without visiting the Magic Kingdom, which is like visiting with an old friend. No matter how many times a person visits the Magic Kingdom, however, he always finds himself transported back in time to fond childhood memories.
The Magic Kingdom consists of five areas, or lands. These lands are arranged in a special formation, like the spokes in a wheel. All of “spokes” to these lands come together in front of Cinderella Castle, right at the top of Main Street USA. The five lands within the Magic Kingdom include: Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Liberty Sqaure, Frontierland, and Adventureland.
Main Street, USA, which was inspired by Walt Disney’s hometown, is meant to recreate the feel of 20th century small-town America. This town, however, is downsized to a 7/8 scale. Included in the town is a town hall, shops, a barbershop, and a fire station. Adventureland is filled with exotic animals and jungles, as well as a Middle Eastern bazaar and pirate adventures. Frontierland carries on the theme of the Wild West, while Liberty Square pays patriotic homage to the United States. Fantasyland is filled with fairytale images and Tomorrowland gives guests a glimpse into the future.
Each of the Magic Kingdom lands is themed according to its title. In addition, all of the lands are connected by a major network of underground tunnels. These underground tunnels make it possible to prevent park visitors from seeing the behind the scenes operations of the park. The tunnels also make it possible for costumed cast members to leave their areas without walking in another themed area, which would cause the cast member to look severely out of place.
Visiting many splendid attractions within the Magic Kingdom can, however, require long waits in line. To avoid unnecessary waits, it is a good idea to visit the Theme Park with a good plan. This site will help you prepare your plan and, therefore, get the most out of your enchanting Magic Kingdom vacation.
