Katongo

Katongo is a Broadway type show that takes place in the Moroccan Palace Theater.  This live show contains animals and 18 actors in brightly colored costumes.  During the musical, guests are taken on a 35 minute journey and celebration of animal folklore.

The storyline of Katonga is that of the lives of Griots, which are aspiring storytellers, as they work toward becoming master tellers of animal folklore.  In order to become masters, the performers act out traditional African stories.  These stories follow the cycle of life of four African animals.  The stories are told in breathtaking fashion with the help of original music, puppet design, dance routines, acrobatics, and live performers.  The beautiful set design depicts the voyage of the sun as well as the lush African forests and tranquil rivers.

Along the way, Whirly, who is an adolescent monkey, learns success requires taking risks.  The caterpillar, Kipopp, discovers how to look inside to find her true self before becoming a butterfly.  Rok Rok, the bullfrog, learn treasures are found in listening and respecting others.  The crowned crane, Kilinda, helps bring people and animals together.
