The Oasis

The Oasis provides visitors with a great introduction to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Upon entering, guests can choose from a variety of paths to follow, but each path leads to the same destination – the Tree of Life. The Oasis itself contains a lush landscape and a walking area imprinted with animal paw prints. This area is quite peaceful, as it contains a small waterfall, a variety of tropical trees and plants, and a pond containing brightly colored flamingos.

The viewing areas in the Oasis are scattered about the landscape. Guests can enjoy observing tree kangaroos, giant anteaters, wallabies, two toes sloths, and exotic birds. Cast Members are also nearby to answer questions and assist guests in spotting wildlife. While the animals and plantlife in the Oasis are real, the rocks and termite mounds are synthetic and often hide feeders for the birds.

The Rainforest Café can also be enjoyed at the Oasis. Located immediately outside of the Oasis inside a building with a waterfall, the Café offers a multi-sensory dining experience. Guests can be part of a tropical thunderstorm as they observe audi-animatronic wildlife, including giant butterflies, a mother elephant and her baby, a cheetah, a gorilla, a monkey, and a crocodile. In addition, a real life 3500 gallon aquarium contains multiple tropical fish.

Of course, the Café also offers food. Among its menu options are chicken, pasta, and various meat and seafood dishes, such as Mojo Bones, Rasta Pasta, Chicken Monsoon, and Congo Mogambo.
