Asia, the newest land to be added to the Animal Kingdom in 1999, is home to some of the most exotic creatures, landscape, and architecture to be found in the park. Mysterious temples, coupled with crumbling ruins and lush vegetation adds to the atmosphere and was inspired by the countries of Mongolia, Nepal, Cambodia, Indonesia, India, and Thailand. Together, these countries have formed the Animal Kingdom’s kingdom of Anandapur, meaning “place of all delights.”

While exploring this land, guests are treated to the sounds of wind rustling through bamboo while viewing the Tiger Tree, which is covered in garlands, scarves, and bells – all of which pay tribute to the spirits for wishes and prayers that have been granted.

The cement walkway through the area contains imprints of palm fronds and leaves, but alongside the walkways, rickshaws, bicycles and other modes of transportation can be observed. In addition, 2 families of gibbons have made this area their home and they enjoy showing off their playful gymnastics skills, much to the delight of visitors.

The Flights of Wonder performance, which contains a variety of performing birds, also takes place here. In addition, visitors can enjoy the Kali River Rapids as they also learn more about the effects of illegal logging operations on rainforests. The fastpass is available for this ride. The Maharajah Jungle Trek, which contains many of Asia’s exotic creatures, including bats and tigers, can be enjoyed by walking on its pathways.

To satisfy their hunger, guests can snack on frozen treats, smoothies, and floats from the Anandapur Ice Cream truck. For a more complete meal, they can snack on roasted corn and chicken satay from a roadside stand. Cold drinks can also be found in Drinkwallah, while chicken and pot stickers can be enjoyed at the Chakranadi Chicken Shop.
