Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room

Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room was originally meant to be a restaurant. But, by the time it opened in 1971, the plan had changed and it became an attraction that soon developed into a sentimental favorite of Disney World guests.

The preshow entertains guests with wisecracking bird as they wait for the show to begin. The Enchanted Tiki Room was the first of all Disney attractions to incorporate audio-animatronics. Recently, the 20 minute show was upgraded, while still holding true to its classic appeal. Songs performed by the audio-animatronic flowers, birds and tiki gods have been updated. Similarly, favorite Disney characters such as Iago from Aladdin and Zazu from the Lion King, who are the new “co-owners' of the establishment, have also helped update the attraction. Classic characters, such as the hosts of Michael, Jose, Fritz, and Pierre, remain.

During the show, Uh Oa, who is the tiki goddess of disaster, erupts in the middle of the room and creates a cloud of green mist. While there, she gets her revenges on Iago by hurling a lighting bolt at him. Amidst the cheers of the tiki gods, Iago reappears with bandages and crutches.

The dark theater can be frightening to small children because it is very dark. In addition, some of the scenes may be too intense or scary. Assistive Listening Devices are available at Guest Services and the show is wheelchair accessible. Guests in wheelchairs and ECVs can easily attend the show.
