The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man

The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is the most technologically advanced ride in the world, combining pyrotechnics and 3-D effects with a roller coaster. To enjoy the ride, guests wear 3-D Spider-Vision glasses as they travel on the Scoop, which is the ride vehicle.

The ride begins with a visit to the Daily Bugle. Here, Peter Parker (Spider-Man) is working when he learns that the forces of darkness, namely Dr. Octopus and the Sinister Syndicate, are using an Anti-Gravity gun to steal The Statue of Liberty. Parker asks guest visitors to assist him in returning the statue to its rightful place. From here, guests begin to explore the streets of New York City as they search for leads. Of course, Spider-Man himself ultimately swoops in to save the day.

Throughout the ride, the action takes place all around guests as they fly through the air. Broken water pipes and flaming pumpkins both seemingly hurl objects toward guests, hitting the vehicle before flying off. Guests also dodge past a dumptruck as they follow along a track that is nearly undetectable. An animated Spider-Man even leaps from real fire escapes to the real car guests are riding in! Creating this 360 degree 3-D effect was a technological marvel utilizing 25 large-format movie projectors and dozens of additional smaller projectors. The colors utilized throughout the ride stay true to Stan Lee’s original limited palate, including light blue trench coats and gray cookies and brownies.

When this ride first opened, it was the most expensive ride ever built, costing an estimated $200 million! Each Scoop weighs 7 ½ tons and seats 12 passengers (3 rows of 4). The front row generally provides the best views, as other guests aren’t in the way. Each also has 24 speakers and 2 computers to assist in creating the realism of the ride. The ride also contains a sensory drop of 400 feet, which takes place after Dr. Octopus zaps the Scoop with the Anti-Gravity gun. A phone number, (407) 224-1783, can also be found inside the ride. Calling this number will result in hearing a message about Spider-Man and Dr. Octopus!

This 4 ½ minute ride is very popular, so the best time to ride is first thing in the morning. There is a minimum height requirement of 40" and riders between 40"-48" must be accompanied by an adult. Guests in wheelchairs must be able to transfer to the ride’s seating in order to enjoy the ride. Due to the sudden acceleration, stops, turns, climbs, and drops, the ride is not recommended for pregnant women or guests suffering from neck, back, or heart conditions. Those with motion sickness or medical conditions affected by fog effects should also avoid the ride. In addition, the safety restraints may be uncomfortable for guests with certain body sizes or shapes.

Baby Swap is an option here. The station is located between the loading and unloading areas. There are many seats in the room and a Spider-Man cartoon is shown on a tv monitor inside.
