Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith

The Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster, which stars the band Aerosmith, is the newest roller coaster to be added to Disney-MGM studios. Opened on August 1, 1999, the indoor roller coaster is located near The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, near the end of Sunset Boulevard. This spectacular roller coaster reaches 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. It also includes three inversions and lighting typical of a rock concert. The rock 'n' roll stylings of Aerosmith are blasted through 120 onboard speakers located in each coaster train to add to the fun.

Each 'limo' of the roller coaster allow guests to experience five G's during the transition from launch to the first loop of the ride. Astronauts aboard the Space Shuttle only experience three G's on liftoff! To begin the attraction, guests tour the fictional G-Force records. Here, they encounter Aerosmith as the finish a studio recording session. The band then invites guests to see them in concert. To do so, guests board the 'stretch limo,' which holds 24 passengers - and then the fun begins!

The ride itself is dark and full of twists and turns. Several Southern California landmarks, however, are specially lit up to be viewed. These include the Roxy Theatre and the Hollywood sign. The exit of the ride leads into the Rock Around the Shop gift shop. Here, guests can purchase Aerosmith and Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster souvenirs, such as t-shirts, pins, and postcards. Photographs are also taken during the ride and can be purchased at the exit.

Lines can get quite long for the ride, but FastPass is available. Guests must be 48 inches tall to ride, but the child swap option is also available by contacting a Cast Member. In addition, pregnant women or those with medical conditions should not ride the roller coaster. Guests can, however, enjoy the pre-show, then exit through the 'chicken exit' before boarding the ride. ECV guests must be able to transfer to a wheelchair in order to enjoy the pre-show. Restroom are located to the left of the entrance in the plaza.
