It’s Tough to Be a Bug

Inside the Tree of Life, the 3-D movie "It's Tough to be a Bug" can be enjoyed. To reach the 430 seat theatre, guests follow a path the winds around the Tree of Life. While circling the tree, guests can view the 325 creatures that are etched into the trunk and branches of the tree. This entire queuing area is, however, unshaded.

Once guests enter the inside of the Tree, they receive 3-D "bug eye" glasses. These glasses should not, however, be put on until seated inside the theatre. The walls within the pre-show area contain humorous posters of shows, such as "My Fair Ladybug," "Beauty and the Bee," "A Stinkbug Named Desire," "Webside Story" and "A Cockroach Line."

Guests are escorted into the theatre every 8 minutes to enjoy the show, which is hosted by Flik from "Bugs Life." Hopper also makes an appearance as guests to the show are made into honorary insects. An exciting 4-D experience then follows. Some of the special effects, however, can be too intense for smaller children. It is loud and dark and filled with spiders and hairy bugs. Therefore, it might be best for an adult to preview the show to ensure it will be enjoyable for the children.

The theatre is accessible to guests in wheelchairs. Assistive listening devices are also available for hearing impaired guests. Reflective captioning is also available for deaf guests. A Cast Member can be asked for assistance at the entrance.

Fastpass is available for this attraction.
