Bird Gardens

The beautiful Bird Gardens are the oldest area in the park.  Here, botanical gardens and approximately 500 birds of 200 species can be viewed and explored.  In addition, guests 21 and older can receive a complimentary beer from the Hospitality House while they are here!  The Hospitality House also serves pizza, salad, and sandwiches.  Other dining opportunities include the Watering Hole and Bird Garden Refreshments.

Lory Landing, where guests can walk through a gigantic bird cage and touch exotic birds, is one of the most unique features of the Bird Gardens.  The Wild Wings of Africa show is also shown hear in the Bird Show Theater.  Eagle Canyon also provides views of the majestic golden and bald eagles.  Gwazi, which is an exciting dueling wooden roller coaster can also be found in Bird Gardens, as well rock climbing opportunities and the interesting Xcursions store.  Here, guests can browse through a variety of science and nature related items.  Other stores include Gwazi Gifts, Touch of Glass, and Shamu’s Seaside Treasures.

Most guests to the park pass through the Bird Gardens many times during their visit.  This is largely because it is one of the two available ways to walk to the back of the park.  In addition, it provides the quickest route to the popular ride, SheiKra.  There is no ideal time to visit this part of the park, though it might be best to explore the area before or after taking in the Wild Wings of African show.  Daily times for the show are posted outside the theater or they can be located on the back of the park map.
